Eastern Trek
The Eastern Trek is home to Kingdom Trails, Burke Mountain, and the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, each drawing visitors from across the East Coast.
Lyndon Outing Club – Lyndonville, VT
ALPINE – The Lyndon Outing Club offers the only night skiing in the Northeast Kingdom! The LOC was established in 1937, founded by an active group of local skiers. In its heyday, the LOC was home to a competition ski jump and once served as training grounds for Olympic ski hopefuls. It is one of the only remaining ski areas with a functioning rope tow.
Burke Mountain – East Burke, VT
ALPINE & NORDIC – With 53 trails and glades, Burke Mountain has plenty of downhill skiing terrain to explore. If you’re looking for a different ski experience, make your way over to Dashney Nordic Center to enjoy 9 miles of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails.
Kingdom Trails – East Burke, VT
NORDIC – Enjoy over 7 miles of skate and tracked classic Nordic ski trails. Located on Darling Hill, said to be the “prettiest mile in Vermont” the trails wind through field and forest with amazing vistas of mountain ranges as well as historic barns, quaint inns and majestic Victorian houses.
Lamoille Valley Rail Trail – St. Johnsbury to Hardwick, VT
NORDIC – The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail is a historic treasure extending across some of Northern Vermont’s most beautiful landscapes. To date, 33 miles have been opened. In the winter, the snowmobile groomed trails are open to all non-motorized recreationists.
NorthWoods Nordic Trails – Island Pond, VT
NORDIC – NorthWoods offers a variety of terrain with over 12 dog-friendly miles of groomed and backcountry trails for skiing and snowshoeing. Maps are available at the self-serve kiosk and at selected trail locations.
FARM & FIELD
Explore the rolling hills and valleys of the Farm & Field area, home to Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
Groton State Forest – Groton, VT
Home to seven state parks including Boulder Beach State Park. Boulder Beach gets its name for the many large rocks left by glaciers on the sandy beach of Lake Groton and throughout Groton State Forest. The park is located on the eastern shore of Lake Groton (423 acres). Check out the naturalist programs at the Groton Nature Center, only a short walk from Boulder Beach.
Crystal Lake State Park – Barton, VT
Crystal Lake (763 acres) is about three miles long and one mile in width. It is situated between rough-hewn mountain sides, and features a mile long sandy beach alongside a concession stand.
Harvey’s Lake Beach – West Barnet, VT
Harvey’s Lake (350 acres) is quaint and family-friendly, known for its popsicles for sale at the gate house. All proceeds benefit the playground fund which has been dubbed the “Popsicle Fund.”

Jay Peak Resort – Jay, VT
ALPINE & NORDIC – With 81 trails, glades, and chutes, Jay Peak offers over 385 acres of skiable terrain. Or, if you’re eager to get off the slopes, enjoy 12 miles of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing for novices and experts alike.
Memphremagog Trails – Derby & Newport, VT
NORDIC – Offering over 18 miles of groomed cross country ski trails, Memphremagog allows skiers of all levels and disciplines to have a blast. The lower loops offer fast skate skiing or cut-in tracks for classic. Head across the road for a multi-hour tour up to some of the best views in the Kingdom.
Jay Community Recreation Center – Derby & Newport, VT
NORDIC – Jay Community Recreation Center has over 16 miles of safe, well-maintained multi-use trails spread over 240 acres of beautiful terrain.
