You’re A Weekend Warrior

August 9, 2022

This journal entry was part of the NEK Getaway Quiz, a contest we ran in Summer 2022. While you can’t take the quiz anymore, you can still reap the benefits! Use this journal entry for inspiration to create your own Weekend Warrior checklist.

A Weekend Warrior looks to make the most of every moment of their getaway. As someone who is organized and detail-oriented, you most likely already have accommodations booked, tickets to an upcoming concert, and a list on your phone of “must-try” restaurants and breweries!

Weekend Warriors pick and choose what appeals to them, often having the trip planned down to the hour.

Here in the Kingdom, there’s a lot of ground to cover. While we may not be able to persuade you to stray from your meticulous itinerary, we do think you might enjoy comparing your list to ours!

The Weekend Warrior Checklist

Visit 3 Breweries, Distilleries or Wineries

Our craft beverage game is strong in the NEK! Get your hands on some specialty samplings by visiting in person or picking up a case at a local store to bring back to your rental! Make sure to check out CowMoo’s list of Local Breweries.

Listen to Live Music

Dog Mountain, a fur-friendly destination in St. Johnsbury, provides free concerts (courtesy of Catamount Arts) and other themed events throughout the summer and fall. After the concert, head back into downtown St. J for more opportunities to hear live music… you may even find a bar to sing karaoke! St. Johnsbury is at the beginning of the Eastern Trek.

Explore the Newport Waterfront Recreational Path

Walk, run, or ride your bike at your leisure along this 7-mile trail. Enjoy views of Lake Memphremagog and surrounding mountain peaks. Newport is part of the Mountain & Lake Getaway.

Arts & Culture Self-Guided Tours

Head to the Farm & Field area for an opportunity to tour multiple museums including Bread & Puppet , the Museum of Everyday Life , and the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village. You never know what you’ll learn along the way!
